Current Ferrari Drivers:

1929-1940s: The Early Years

Scuderia Ferrari was established as an independent racing team in 1929. The team initially served as a racing division for Alfa Romeo before becoming an independent constructor. Alberto Ascari and Nino Farina were among the notable drivers of this era. The team enjoyed considerable success in pre-World War II Grand Prix racing.

1950s: The Beginning of Formula 1

The inaugural Formula 1 World Championship in 1950 featured Scuderia Ferrari. Alberto Ascari won the Drivers’ Championship in 1952 and 1953. Juan Manuel Fangio, one of the sport’s all-time greats, drove for Ferrari in 1956 but narrowly missed the title. Ferrari established itself as a dominant  force in F1 during this period.

1960s-1970s: Glory and Tragedy

Scuderia Ferrari won the Constructors’ Championship in 1961. John Surtees secured the Drivers’ Championship for Ferrari in 1964. Tragedy struck in 1967 with the death of Lorenzo Bandini during the Monaco Grand Prix. The team went on to experience a dry spell before returning to glory in the late 1970s.

1980s-2000s: The Schumacher Era

Michael Schumacher joined Ferrari in 1996, kickstarting a period of unprecedented success. Schumacher won five consecutive Drivers’ Championships from 2000 to 2004. Ferrari secured the Constructors’ Championship in those same years. The team’s partnership with Schumacher and technical director Ross Brawn was a defining era.

2010s: Competitive but Title Eludes

Ferrari remained competitive but faced stiff competition from other teams, particularly Red Bull Racing and Mercedes. Drivers like Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel joined the team, but a World Championship title proved elusive.

2020s: Continuing the Quest

Scuderia Ferrari remains a powerhouse in Formula 1, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz leading the charge. The team continues to invest in its technical and engineering capabilities, with an eye on future championships.
