The Yas Marina Circuit is a renowned motorsport racetrack located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is unique for its twilight race format, starting in the late afternoon and finishing under the floodlights, providing a visually stunning backdrop. The Yas Marina Circuit hosted its first Formula 1 race on November 1, 2009. The inaugural race was won by Sebastian Vettel driving for Red Bull Racing.
Featuring a 1.2km straight, with slow speed corners at the beginning and end, overtaking opportunities abound on this track, adding to the excitement. Modifications in 2021 have shortened the track slightly. The circuit is designed as a Hermann Tilke creation and is known for its challenging layout, featuring a mix of straights, high-speed corners, and tight sections.
The circuit has a seating capacity of around 41,093 spectators. One of the standout features of the Yas Marina Circuit is the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel, a whale-shaped hotel which straddles the track and offers a visually spectacular view of the race. The circuit also features a marina, and the track itself passes underneath the hotel. This tourist attraction offers a range of high end facilities including Ferrari’s indoor theme park, golf and many more, with the added bonus of stunning weather.
