The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was built in 1991 and began hosting the Spanish Grand Prix that same year. It was built as part of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics development program. Situated in one of Spain’s cultural and exciting cities. The track has positioned itself amongst one of the best permanent circuits on the F1 calendar.

The track debut featured a sensational performance from Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna. The fastest lap record at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was set by Lewis Hamilton during the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix with a time of 1:18.149. Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton share the record for the most wins by a driver at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, each with 6 wins.

Track Layout:

This is a well-loved and busy track which has undergone significant winter testing with a mix of high and low speed corners and challenging turns. The track features long straights, elevation changes and is known for its abrasive track surface, with 16 high speed corners meaning several pit stops for drivers.
