The Suzuka International Racing Course, commonly known as Suzuka Circuit, is a prominent motorsport race track located in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, Japan. It has a rich history in motorsport and is one of the most challenging and iconic circuits in the world. Suzuka Circuit was inaugurated in 1962. It was designed by Dutch architect and engineer John Hugenholtz.

Suzuka has been a regular venue for the Formula 1 World Championship since 1987. It has hosted many memorable championship-deciding races. Suzuka is home to the Japanese Grand Prix, which has been a crucial race in determining the Formula 1 World Championship title on numerous occasions. In addition to Formula 1, Suzuka Circuit hosts the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours endurance motorcycle race, one of the most important events in the Endurance World Championship.

Track Layout:

Suzuka is known for its unique figure-eight layout, featuring a mix of fast straights, challenging corners, and elevation changes. The circuit is famous for its “S” curves and the demanding 130R corner and is technical and demanding in nature. The crossover section truly tests the skills of both the drivers and the performance of the cars.

Notable Features:

Soichiro Honda commissioned the track in 1962 to test his automobiles. It’s one of the few tracks that feature a crossover section which ramps up the excitement The circuit’s location on Honshu Island makes it susceptible to changing weather conditions, which can add an extra layer of complexity to races. Suzuka Circuit is home to the Suzuka Circuit Museum, where visitors can explore the history of the circuit and motorsport through various exhibits and displays.
